Training and support for our foster carers

We caught up with three of our foster carers to get their thoughts on the training and support we provide and how this has helped them to become confident carers.

We believe in comprehensive and continuous training for our foster carers so they have the skills to provide highquality care for children and young people. To do this we provide:

• A training programme for foster carers that is a blend of face-to-face and online learning
• Regular support groups, giving fosters carers, the opportunity to discuss tactics and swap ideas
• Regular meetings and contact with social workers
• Access to St Christopher’s support team 24 hours a day
• Access to an extended support network including education, psychological and therapeutic specialists, to support foster carers in improving the life of a young person.
