Foster Care Fortnight has arrived

Fostering Network’s annual Foster Care Fortnight (May 12 to 25) has begun and this year’s theme is “guess who can foster”, looking at many of the myths and misconceptions about who is suitable for fostering.

Foster Care Fortnight is a brilliant opportunity to raise awareness of the national shortage of foster carers. Fostering Network has predicted that fostering providers like St Christopher’s need to recruit 7,000 foster carers this year.

Guess who fosters
Unfortunately, there are a lot of myths and misconceptions about who can foster and Fostering Network and St Christopher’s will throughout the next two weeks show the variety of people who foster.

Foster carers come from all walks of life and backgrounds and have one thing in common. They are passionate about helping a child to reach their potential. To find out more about who can foster visit our website.

Our plans for Foster Care Fortnight

During Foster Care Fortnight we will share a new blog post with you every day. We will share our new fostering video, which interviews six of our Midlands foster carers, and share some examples of how our foster carers are making a difference.

In Peterborough we are also holding an information evening at Thomas Deacon Academy from 6pm to 7.30pm where you can ask us any questions about fostering.

How do I become a foster carer?

In a previous blog post we looked at the steps involved in becoming a foster carer. Start your journey today by enquiring on our website or ringing us on 0800 234 6282.
