I've found my vocation in life

I made a life-changing decision when I swapped my senior management role to become a foster carer. It all started when my daughter’s troubled teenage friend came to live with us. I realised the positive impact I could have on a young person in need.

Foster carer Keith was interviewed last night by Chris Mann on BBC Radio Cambridge to share their fostering experience. Last year him and his wife Carol were approved as foster carers in Essex and have recently been fostering a teenager.

8,600 new foster carers needed in 2014


The Fostering Network announced today that at least 8,600 new foster families are needed across the UK 2014 to provide stable and caring home.

The impact fostering had on my children

This week our blog post is from Jeanne, St Christopher’s foster carer from Essex. She will be sharing her experience of fostering and its effect on her children.

Initially both my daughters were delighted when I suggested to them that we foster. My eldest daughter was at university and the younger in her first year of sixth-form college. Both girls were becoming independent. It was opportune that they were at home the day that our foster child arrived as it was my birthday. They were instantly warmed to her and intrigued to have a little one staying at home.
